Beer Review 525: Wolf King, Rusty Rail Brewing, Mifflinburg, Pennsylvania.

Pete was kind enough to send us this Imperial Stout from Rusty Rail Brewing in Pennsylvania. This comes in at 8.2% ABV with 20 IBUs. It poured a jet black color, with a thin tan head that quickly dissipated. The nose was coffee and roasted grain. This was full bodied, with coffee, dark chocolate, roasty malt and some caramel sweetness. I didn’t really notice the slick mouthfeel you often get when oatmeal is used in stouts, but I do not think that detracted from this at all. This was a really solid stout and we would both have it again.
