I set myself the challenge of home brewing and distilling a bourbon whiskey with ingredients from the supermarket. It turned out a whole lot better than expected!

Recipe:
4kg (8.8 lb) cornflakes
1 x rye bread loaf
1.5 kg (3.3 lb) wheetbix

Mash all the ingredients together at 60-75c and add in the enzymes (assuming you cheat like me).

Alternatively, check this video from bearded and bored to malt supermarket barley:

Mash for one hour and add in the Gluco (use beano if going full supermarket) let go for another 2 hours.

Separate goop from liquid cool it down to pitching temp of 25c – 77f.

Pitch 50 g (1.7 oz) of yeast and ferment
I used angel bakers yeast. Its my favourite baker’s yeast, but use what you find in your supermarket

Either double pot distil OR run it once with 1-3 plates

Age on charred American white oak. I’m lucky enough to have a few supermarkets and food stores around with still spirits products so I used their oak spiral. Alternatively, look for chopped up barrels intended for smoking.
